Armistice of Znaim

The ceasefire was a closed Znojmo Znojmo in between Archduke Charles of Austria and the French forces under Louis Auguste Frédéric de Marmont Viesse and André Masséna on July 12, 1809 cease-fire.

It was closed when Napoleon and his troops at the Battle of Wagram was victorious over the Austrian troops and this had to retreat to Moravia. Lower Austria remained occupied by the French.

Although Emperor Francis I. had promised the end of May the Tyrolese in the Wolkersdorfer proclamation, without wanting to make peace with Tirol Austria, the point IV of the ceasefire agreement concerned the eviction of Tyrol and Vorarlberg by Austrian troops. The Viennese court refrained, however to send clear information to the Tyrol, there was therefore fought on bloody.

Archduke Charles was suspended in the wake of Francis I as Generalissimo.
