In France, a Général d' Armée wears five stars, but is the general of the Army, four -star general or army general of the armed forces of other NATO partners assimilated.

The commander of Paris bears - if the title is awarded - regardless of his rank - a sixth star. The Maréchal de France take seven stars, and are therefore most likely with the General of the Army or Field Marshal comparable, even if the rank of Marshal of France will no longer be awarded today.
