Army of Virginia

The Army of Virginia ( Virginia Army ) was a major unit of the U.S. Army. It consisted of 26 June to 12 September 1862.

During the Civil War it was the custom to designate larger army units according to the areas where they were mainly active. The Virginia Army was used during their brief existence only in the north of the state.

My commander was Major General Pope.

It consisted of three corps, under Generals Sigel, Banks and McDowell. After the second battle of Manassas the army was incorporated on September 12, 1862 in Army of the Potomac.
