Arnar Gunnlaugsson

Arnar Gunnlaugsson ( born March 6, 1973 in Akranes ) is a former Icelandic football player and current football coach. His twin brother Bjarki Gunnlaugsson is also a professional football player.

Playing career

Arnar Gunnlaugsson began at the Icelandic club ÍA Akranes playing football. After a good season in the first team of the Dutch first division club Feyenoord Rotterdam became aware of him. After a few brief appearances in Holland, he moved in 1994 along with his twin brother Bjarki on loan to Bundesliga relegation 1.FC Nürnberg. While the club remained in the 2nd Bundesliga only thanks to the withdrawal of licenses for Dynamo Dresden, Arnar Gunnlaugsson get some promising performances. With eight goals, he was the top scorer of the 1st FC Nuremberg in that season. After the season Gunnlaugsson returned to his old club back to Akranes.

In 1997, he made ​​the jump to the Premier League for Bolton Wanderers. However, he remained without results and could not avoid the descent of the Wanderers. However, in the subsequent season in the First Division, he flourished and achieved in 27 missions 13 results. Then it took Leicester City for £ 2,000,000 back in the Premier League. He remained there until 2002, did not come on the status of a player supplementing addition, however. Finally, he moved free transfer to Stoke City, where he had been 1999/2000 already borrowed briefly.

National

Arnar Gunnlaugsson debuted in April 1993 in the Icelandic national team during a friendly match against the United States. Coaching career

Twice he had previously held the coaching job at his hometown club ÍA. Currently, he is the same player and assistant coach at Haukar.
