Arnaud Clément

Arnaud Marcel Maurice Clément ( born December 17, 1977 in Aix -en- Provence ) is a French former tennis player.

Career

He won in his career three ATP singles titles: 2000 in Lyon, 2002 in Metz and 2006 in Washington, in another 5 tournaments he reached the final.

His greatest achievement at a Grand Slam tournament was the finals of the Australian Open 2001. Along the way, Clément defeated Tommy Robredo among others, Roger Federer, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Greg Rusedski and Sebastien Grosjean. In the final he lost to Andre Agassi with 4:6, 2:6, 2:6.

Arnaud Clément played at the 2004 French Open against his compatriot Fabrice Santoro, the second- longest match of Grand Slam history. The encounter that with 6-4, 6-3, 6 ( 5) Santoro at the end: 7, 3:6 and 16:14 opted for, went over two days and lasted 6 hours ( 24-25 of May. ) and 33 minutes. This mark was surpassed in 2010 the tournament of Wimbledon, as the first round game between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut a total of 11 hours and five minutes it took.

His last tournament played Clément, 2012 in Wimbledon. After his retirement he explained his pro career ended. He will new captain of the French Davis Cup team.
