Arnaud Guillaume de Barbazan

Arnault Guilhem, Baron de Barbazan (* 1360, † 1431), called the Chevalier sans reproche ( knight without reproach ), was an advisor and chamberlain ( cham bellan ) of the French kings, Charles VI. and Charles VII

He came from a distinguished family of Bigorre. As a soldier, he came out in 1404, when he saw during the Hundred Years War as the leader of seven French riders seven English riders over. During the civil wars at the time of the king Charles VI disease. he was loyal to the royalist cause, and reached several victories against the soldiers of the Duke of Burgundy. 1420 he defended Melun against the English. After the capitulation with free deduction he was retained as a prisoner, but by Étienne de Vignolles ( La Hire ) exempt. In 1430 he defeated the combined English and Burgundians on La Croisette in Champagne. The following year, he died of the wounds he had suffered in the Battle of Bulgnéville.

At the request of the king, he was in the Basilica of Saint -Denis, the grave place of the French kings, buried. In the sack of the Royal Tombs of Saint- Denis during the French revolution his grave was opened and looted on October 22, 1793, his remains were buried in a mass grave outside the church.
