Geographical Location

Arnbruck is located in the Donau-Wald in Zellertalstraße at the foot of Riedl stone in the middle of the Bavarian Forest about 13 km northeast of Viechtach, 15 km southwest of Lam, 12 km north- west of ground corn and each 24 km from rain (city) and Zwiesel.

History

The place was inhabited early on by Bavaria. Around the year 950 came Arno Graf, of the family of the Counts of Bogen, when riding through a torrent in mortal danger. With the help of a settler could he defend himself. In gratitude, Count Arno build a bridge at this point: the Arno bridge.

The open Hofmark Arnbruck was initially owned by the Counts of Bogen. On July 9, 1209 handed Count Bertold III. the village Arnbruck the monastery Niederaltaich. The second school building was sold in 1938 to the Raiffeisen loan association, the goal for the building to its bank building.

Arnbruck was completely reliant on agriculture for a long time. The creek was marked by the middle of the 20th century by a special water purity, so that there were many freshwater pearl mussels with pearls found. Witnesses report that adolescents in the economically lean years before the Second World War earned pocket money by collecting beads, which could be sold to Prague, Vienna and Berlin. A special feature was the Arnbrucker Mischpilze since time immemorial.

Coat of arms

Blazon: Argent, a solid brick red bridge with three arches; floating above a golden labels, in a green Dreienberg. The emblem has been used since 1926.

Culture and sights

The already existing parish church of St. Bartholomew, was redesigned in 1676 and inaugurated in October. 1760 was extended and about the same time the design of the church interior with main altar, side altars and pulpit by the sculptor Johann Paul Hager from Kötzting.
