Arnemetia

Arnemetia, also Arnomecta is a Celtic (medical ) called goddess who was worshiped in Britain.

The name appears in the Latin name Aquae Arnemetiae for the place Buxton (Derbyshire ) a Roman bath and a consecration inscription from Brough -on- Noe, also in Derbyshire. Read here: DEAE ARNOMECTE (RIB 281). The archaeological search in Buxton brought 232 coins and two bronze rings ( torc? ) To light.

Arnemetia is composed of Celtic atmosphere ( "next ", " at " ) and nemeton ( " sacred place " ), which could indicate an epithet of a goddess ( " who lives in a holy place ").

After the Christianization of Britain Arnemetia was equated with St. Anne and renamed the healing spring in St. Anne 's Well.
