Arnold Amet

Arnold Amet Karibone ( born October 30, 1952) is a Papuan of New Guinea - lawyer and politician.

Arnold Amet was from November 2007 to December 2010 Governor of Madang Province. He resigned from this position to become Minister of Justice and Attorney-General in the government of Prime Minister Michael Somare. He remained in this position until the government was replaced by a parliamentary statement on the vacancy of the office of Prime Minister in August 2011, after which he went into opposition.

In the parliamentary elections of 2007, he was elected as a member of the Madang Province in the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea. Arnold was until 2003 Chief Justice of Papua New Guinea, Chairman of the International Election Observation authority of the Commonwealth of Nations, the Commonwealth Observer Group for the 2006 elections in the Solomon Islands and a member of the international group of observers to assess the political situation and the human rights situation in Fiji after the military coup of, 2006.
