Arnold Gartmann

Arnold, " Noldi » Gartmann ( born November 20, 1904 in St. Moritz, † 4 June 1980) was a Swiss bobsledder.

Gartmann attended the district school in Chur and worked as a bank clerk. Later he was the owner of the cinema Scala in St. Moritz. Sporty he was very versatile. He was one of the national teams in hockey and boxing in, is considered the first wheel gymnasts of Switzerland and founded the resonant Club St. Moritz.

The most successful, however, Gart man was as bobsledders. At the World Cup 1935 in Igls, he drove in the four-man event along with Pierre Musy, Charles Bouvier and Joseph Beerli to second place. The following year, at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, he won the gold medal with the same team occupied. Twenty years later he was again Olympians: At the Olympic Winter Games 1956 in Cortina d' Ampezzo, he finished in fourth place in the four-man event.
