Arnold Henry Savage Landor

Arnold Henry Savage Landor (* 1865 in Florence, † December 26, 1924 ) was a painter, travel writer and researcher. His father was Charles Savage Landor. The poet Walter Savage Landor was his grandfather.

Life

Henry S. Landor was mainly as an explorer in the at that time little known areas of East and Central Asia go. He was never taken very seriously because of the meager results of his expeditions as a researcher. The accumulation of the dramatic events in his books leave serious doubts about the veracity of his adventure. Henry S. Landor was this criticism known and he tried it in the original editions of his works by witness statements and official confirmations to refute.

Because of its lively and witty writing style, the German editions of his books for publisher and the author were a great success. Within 25 years, his books achieved until 1922 ten editions.
