Arnold zum Turm

Arnold to the tower ( de Turri; † ca 1266 ) is dedicated to Arnold von Thurn, founder of the Rhine Cities, † MCCLXIV in Valhalla the plaque No. 56.

Considered together with Arnold Walpod as the founder of the Rhenish Confederation. Arnold was, according to records from 1238 until at least October 15, 1263 City Treasurer to the Archbishop of Mainz. As from 1266 his son Eberhard had held this office, it is believed that Arnold died in this year.

Arnold was related to the Lords of Dornsberg and should, according to available the last male representative of the Dornberger, Konrad von Dornsberg receiving Dornberger family estates including Dornsberg Castle. To this end, it did not come because the fief were interpreted as home like and then reassigned to the counts of Katzenelenbogen.
