Aron Kristjánsson

Aron Kristjánsson (born 14 July 1972) is an Icelandic handball coach and a former handball player.

Playing career

Aron Kristjánsson ran for the Icelandic club Haukar Hafnarfjörður and between 1998 and 2001 for the Danish first division club Skjern Håndbold. With Skjern Håndbold of Icelanders in 1999 won the Danish championship as a player. In 2003, he signed a contract with Danish club team Tvis Holstebro.

Aron Kristjánsson played 85 international matches for the Icelandic national team, in which he scored 128 hits. He took part in the European Championships in 2002 and the World Cup 2003.

Coaching career

Aron Kristjánsson was provided only as of the summer of 2004 as an assistant coach of Skjern Håndbold, but he eventually took over as coach of the team. After the 2006/ 07 season, he left and joined Skjern Haukar Hafnarfjörður on. Under his leadership Haukar won three championships in a row. From June 2010 to February 2011, he coached the German team TSV Hannover- Burgdorf. In the summer of 2011, he again took over as coach of Haukar Hafnarfjörður. In August 2012, Aron Kristjánsson took over as coach of the Iceland national team and coached in addition Haukar until the end of season 2012/13. In February 2014 he took over the coaching position with the Danish club KIF Kolding until the end of the season.
