Aroostook County is a county located in the state of Maine in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Houlton.

History

A part of the territory of the county belonged to the disputed area, which led to the so-called Aroostook War, an undeclared and bloodless boundary dispute between the United States and Canada (then under British administration) in the winter and the spring of 1838 / 39th According to the preliminary end of the dispute, the County was established on March 16, 1839.
