Arotxa

Rodolfo Arotxarena ( born September 7, 1958 in Montevideo), known by his signature Arotxa, an Uruguayan artist and caricaturist.

Depending on the source position in 1975 or 1976 he started as a draftsman at the newspaper El País in Montevideo. Since then he has worked as a cartoonist and is best known for his often biting political cartoons. He has drawn numerous Uruguayan and international personalities. Also for the newspapers Mundocolor, Noticias, Correo de los Viernes and Búsqueda he worked. In 1979 he was awarded, together with other Latin American signatories, an invitation to the Federal Republic of Germany.

In 1983 he traveled to the United States, where he published his works in various newspapers in Minnesota, part of the program Partners of the America was and member of the New Yorker cartoonist and Writers Sindicate was.

His greatest cartoon is the honor of the tango singer Carlos Gardel created 26 -meter-high " Gardelazo " on the driveway after Tacuarembó.

Arotxa has drawn attention to himself as a painter and his painted with oil series " caudillos " found wide acclaim.

Since 1977 he has performed both nationally and internationally diverse exhibitions. Also at the organized by the Intendencia Municipal of Montevideo Community exhibition in honor of Carlos Gardel, he took part in 1995.
