36 views of the Pic Saint -Loup is a French-Italian movie from the year 2009. Directed by Jacques Rivette, one of the most important representatives of the Nouvelle Vague.

Action

Just the day before the summer tour starts, the owner of a small country Circus dies tragically. To save the season somehow, the circus troupe turns to his eldest daughter, Kate. She has returned to the circus 15 years ago the back, the more it surprised the artists that they can be persuaded. On the way to unloved by her circus she meets Vittorio, who helps her car breaks down. Fascinated by Kate, he follows the circus and begins to settle into the daily lives of artists. He even join us in a circus act. But what really captivates him to the circus, is to find Kate's Mystery: Why she left the circus years ago to now but to return to her father's death?

Background

The shooting took place in Rome in Pic Saint -Loup and in the Cinecittà studios.

The film was first shown in the competition at the 66th Venice Film Festival and subsequently at numerous international festivals, as well as on 26 October 2009 at the Viennale and on 1 July 2010 at the Munich Film Festival.

Criticism

Cristina Nord wrote in the taz, Jacques Rivette's film is "a small film, a little old-fashioned as the traveling circus, but just the fact about ". Rivette have the movie set " without much emphasis and drama, but with mild humor and a penchant for theatrical resolutions in scene ".

Awards

After participating in the competition for the Golden Lion at the 66th Venice Film Festival in 2010 was followed by a nomination for Best Actor Sergio Castellitto for the Nastro d' Argento.
