Around the Hainleite

The classic Around the Hainleite is Germany's oldest still driven non- cycling race. Since 1907, this race takes place. It results from Erfurt through the Thuringian north and back to Erfurt. While in the early years, the length of this race was about 350 kilometers, it is now reduced to around 170 kilometers.

The highlight are the last kilometers. Then it goes in the Erfurt Steigerwald several times by the Arnstädter Hollow, a steep, narrow rise with a length of approximately 1,000 meters.

From 2008 the race will no longer be held as one-day race for professionals. Instead, it is integrated as a starting or final stage in the Tour of Thuringia for U23 riders.
