Arpachshad

Arphaxad (also Arpaschad, Arphacsad or Arphaxad; Hebrew: אַרְפַּכְשַׁד; Arab أرفخشذ Arfachschadh, DMG Arfaḫšaḏ; "Healer " ) to the Book of Genesis of the Bible was the son of Shem and grandson of Noah ( cf. Genesis 10:22, 24; 11:10-13; 1 Chron 1:17-18 ).

Pedigree

Arphaxad to have been born two years after the flood, when his father was just 100 years old. His brothers were Elam ( father of the Elamites ), Asshur, Lud, and Aram, and his son was called Shelah (also Salah ). He is an ancestor of Abraham, and was seen by Josephus and others as the progenitor of the Chaldeans. The name should be preserved in the province Arrapachitis in northern Assyria.
