Arquata del Tronto

Arquata del Tronto is a town ( comune ) with 1254 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Ascoli Piceno in the Marche. The municipality is situated approximately kilometers from Ascoli Piceno and belongs to the Comunità montana del Tronto. A part of Arquata del Tronto is located in the National Park of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga and the Monti Sibillini National Park. Arquata del Tronto borders the provinces of Perugia and Terni (Umbria ) and the Province of Rimini (Emilia -Romagna).

History

Whether already held a village founded here in the time of Sabine settlement, is doubtful. From the 6th century AD, but a settlement has been demonstrated.
