Arriaga is a municipality in the west of the Mexican state of Chiapas. The municipality is situated on the edge of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas.

The name is a tribute to the politician Ponciano Arriaga. The municipality has about 40,000 inhabitants ( INEGI Census 2010) and is 810.5 km ². Administrative seat and largest town of the Municipalities is the same name Arriaga.

The municipality borders the municipalities Cintalapa Arriaga, Jiquipilas, Villa Flores and Tonala, as well as to the state of Oaxaca.
