Recordings

The recordings for the album began on August 4, 1975, thus barely a month after ABBA's return from her tour of the Swedish folk parks. Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, who were also the composer of the group, tried in the first recording session to produce a song that had a modern dance rhythm. Under the working title Boogaloo the two artists developed a piece of music which was influenced both by George McCrae's disco classic Rock Your Baby from 1974, as well as Dr. John album Gumbo from 1972 and later by ABBA manager Stig Anderson, Title Dancing Queen got.

After a promotional tour of Australia in March 1976, the band began with further recordings for the album. Knowing Me, Knowing You ABBA was the first song that had separation and divorce on the topic. That 's Me too, was taken in March. End of April 1976, two other recordings for the songs Happy Hawaii and Why Did It Have To Be Me to where Happy Hawaii initially only represented an attempt to Why Did It Have To Be Me, but later as a B- side on the single of Knowing me, Knowing You was released, while Why Did It Have To Be Me himself appeared on the album. This development phase establishes the similarity of the two songs.

In May 1976 Money, Money, Money was put to tape in June followed When I Kissed the Teacher. This month also Dancing Queen was presented for the first time. One day before the wedding of the Swedish royal couple, Carl XVI. Gustaf and Silvia, ABBA appeared on June 18 in baroque costumes at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. The shots went in July with the song Dum Dum Diddle and tigers on.

In August 1976, in addition to the song My Love, My Life and the eponymous for the album instrumental track Arrival was also the ABBA logo with the mirror-image "B", which was used on the cover of Dancing Queen single for the first time and later on the Arrival- Cover application found. In September, several overdubs were added to some tracks still.

The piece Fernando, which was also produced as part of the recording sessions was not included on the original release of Arrival. It was released as a single and was only released on the Australian and New Zealand version of the LP and later on CD.
