Arrondissement of Bayonne
The Arrondissement Bayonne (Basque Baiona ) is an administrative district in the department of Pyrénées- Atlantiques in the Aquitaine region of France.
History
On 4 March 1790, founded with the establishment of the department of Basses- Pyrénées, a " district Ustaritz ", being the present arrondissement in large parts. On February 17, 1800 from the Arrondissement Bayonne was founded.
Since September 10, 1926 Part of the dissolved Mauléon arrondissements were added to the Arrondissement Bayonne.

Geography
The district is bordered to the north by the district Dax in the Landes department, to the east by the arrondissements Pau and Oloron -Sainte- Marie, in the south of Spain with the provinces of Gipuzkoa and Navarre, and on the west by the Gulf of Biscay.
