Arrondissement of Marmande

The district Marmande is an administrative district in the department of Lot- et- Garonne in the French region of Aquitaine.

History

On 4 March 1790, founded with the establishment of the department of Lot- et- Garonne, a " district Marmande ", being the present arrondissement in parts. On February 17, 1800, the district was established from the district and to some cantons expanded.

From September 10 1926 to June 1, 1942 were part of the dissolved during this period arrondissement Arrondissement Nerac to Marmande.

Geography

The district is bordered to the north by the arrondissements Libourne in the Gironde department and Bergerac, in the Dordogne, on the east by the district of Villeneuve -sur -Lot, on the southeast by the district Agen, on the south by the district Nerac and to the west by the district in Langon Gironde department.
