Arrondissement of Pau
The district Pau is an administrative district in the department of Pyrénées- Atlantiques in the Aquitaine region of France.
History
On 4 March 1790, founded with the establishment of the department of Basses- Pyrénées, a " district Pau ", being the present arrondissement in large parts. On February 17, 1800 from the District Pau was founded.
Since September 10, 1926 Part of the dissolved arrondissements Orthez were added to the district of Pau.

Geography
The district is bordered to the north by the arrondissements Dax and Mont -de- Marsan in the Landes department and Mirande in the Gers department (Midi -Pyrenees ), to the east by the district of Tarbes in the Hautes -Pyrénées, also in the Midi-Pyrénées region, in southwest on the Arrondissement Oloron -Sainte -Marie and to the west by the Arrondissement Bayonne.
