Arrondissement of Pontarlier

The district Pontarlier is an administrative unit of the French Doubs department in the Franche-Comté region. Capital ( seat of the Prefecture) is Pontarlier.

It consists of eight cantons and 155 municipalities. On 1 January 2009, the cantons Vercel - Villedieu -le-Camp and Pierre Fontaine- les- Varans from Besançon district were transferred to the district Pontarlier. The Canton Russey came from arrondissement of Montbéliard.
