Arrondissement of Strasbourg-Campagne

The Arrondissement Strasbourg- Campagne is an administrative district in the department of Bas- Rhin in Alsace region of France. The administrative headquarters (French: chef- lieu) of the arrondissement is Strasbourg.

History

On 4 March 1790 the establishment of the department of Bas- Rhin the area a " district Strasbourg " belonged. With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800 was the Arrondissement Strasbourg, which essentially replaced the district. Since May 18, 1871, the area belonged as a county in the district of Strasbourg, Bas-Rhin Alsace-Lorraine to the kingdom land. The group comprised 561 km ², and had then (1885 ) 79 521 inhabitants. As part of the reintegration of Alsace to France on 28 June 1919 ( Treaty of Versailles), the area was again cut as Arrondissement Strasbourg- Campagne.

Geography

The district is bordered to the north by the district Haguenau, Germany to the east with the Ortenaukreis (Baden- Württemberg ) and, this circling, the Arrondissement Strasbourg -Ville, on the south by the district Sélestat - Erstein and to the west by the arrondissement of Molsheim and Saverne.
