Arrondissement of Strasbourg-Ville

The Arrondissement Strasbourg- Ville is an administrative district in the department of Bas- Rhin in Alsace region of France.

History

On 4 March 1790 the establishment of the department of Bas- Rhin, the area belonged to the district of Strasbourg.

With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800 was the Arrondissement Strasbourg, which essentially replaced the district.

Since May 18, 1871, the area was a circle Strasbourg (city ) county in Northern Alsace to the kingdom land Alsace-Lorraine. The circle included then 78 km ² and had (1885 ) 111,987 inhabitants.

As part of the reintegration of Alsace to France on 28 June 1919 ( Treaty of Versailles), the area was again cut as Arrondissement Strasbourg- Ville.

Geography

The district is bordered to the north, south and west by the Arrondissement Strasbourg -Campagne and Germany to the east with the government district of Freiburg (Baden- Württemberg).
