Arroz con Pollo

Arroz con Pollo ( for " rice with chicken " spanish ) is a Latin America and Spain, especially Andalusia, common main dish.

It traditionally consists of rice, chicken, garlic, olive oil, red pepper, herbs and spices. Typical of the Arroz con Pollo spice is saffron, which gives the dish its characteristic yellow color. For cost reasons, turmeric is often used instead of saffron, as this spice is not equal cheaper and the rice also turns typical yellow. The preparation has certain similarities with the paella, but it is long grain rice (not short-grain rice ) were used.

The court is also known to other meats, such as venison or pheasant hare.

The preparation recipes vary slightly from region to region, but the defining flavors are always based on olive oil, garlic and - in the original - saffron.
