Ars (Charente)

Ars is a commune of 720 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Charente. The inhabitants call themselves Les Arsais.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the border of Charente -Maritime, eight kilometers southwest of the town of Cognac, seen more widely about halfway between Angoulême and the Atlantic coast. At the height of the Ars Canal du Né, the channelized section of the river Né starts.

The neighboring municipalities are Salignac -sur -Charente in the north, Merpins in the northeast, Gimeux in the east, Celles in the south, southwest and Pérignac Coulonges in the west.
