Art Eggleton

Arthur "Art " C. Eggleton ( born September 29, 1943 in Toronto, Ontario) was a former minister in the Canadian Cabinet from 1980 to 1991 and the 59th mayor of Toronto. As a representative of the Province of Ontario, he is a member of the Canadian Senate since 2005. Art Eggleton 's 1978 Member of the Liberal Party of Canada since 16 October.

Biography

City Council and Mayor of Toronto

The learned chartered accountant Eggleton was elected in 1969 for the first time in the City Council of Toronto. First, he was considered a reformer and was elected in 1973 as Finance Director under Mayor David Crombie. Over time Eggleton assumed conservative positions. For the Liberal Party of Canada, he was set up on 16 October 1978 as a candidate for a by-election in the district of Parkdale, but failed. In 1980 he ran against former Mayor John Sewell left and won the election. His government was generally regarded as development-oriented and conservative. Minister under Chrétien

Criticism

Two years after his re-election to parliament in 2000, he was criticized when it became public that he gave his ex- girlfriend Maggie Maier a government contract worth $ 36,500, to discuss post-traumatic stress disorder and multiple chemical sensitivity among Canadian to report soldiers.
