Artedius
Artedius corallinus
Artedius is a genus of fish from the family of sculpins ( Cottidae ). The species of the genus occur offshore in the northeastern Pacific Ocean by the Russian Commander Islands on the Bering Sea, the Aleutian Islands, the coast of Alaska, Canada and the United States to northern Baja California ( Mexico) before. They live in the shallow waters of the intertidal zone to depths of about 55 meters and in tide pools.
Features
Artedius species are elongated fish with muscular-looking head, which reach a length of 10 to 25 cm. Your back is more or less scaly strong. The squamation may extend over almost the entire back or represent only a narrow band. The upper sting of Vorkiemendeckels is short and has one or more points. The anus is located immediately before the commencement of the anal fin.
