As arteriography radiological imaging of arterial blood vessels (arterial angiography ) is called.
Typically, a catheter is on the femoral artery, sometimes over the brachial artery by the Seldinger technique is introduced in the arterial system and advanced to the examination region. By injecting a water-soluble contrast agent as arteries and their outlets can be displayed and analyzed in the form of angiograms; if necessary, an angioplasty or stent angioplasty be connected to therapeutically be required to correct a narrowing of the vessel lumen.
Frequent indications of arteriography are representations of the renal arteries, the carotid arteries, the aorta or the coronary arteries.
