Arthur Caesar

Arthur Caesar (born 9 March 1892 in Bucharest, † June 20, 1953 in Beverly Hills, California ) was a native of Romania, American screenwriter who won the Oscar for best original story at the Academy Awards 1934.

Biography

Arthur Caesar, brother of the song lyricist Irving Caesar, began in 1924 as a screenwriter for the film His Darker Self. Throughout his career in the film industry in Hollywood, he wrote the templates for more than forty films. His play Napoleon 's Barber was filmed in 1930 under the title El barbero de Napoleón.

In 1934 he was awarded the Oscar for best original story for Manhattan Melodrama ( 1933). His last screenplay was the inspiration for The Pirate Queen ( 1951).
