Arthur Christmas is a computer animated film in 3D by Sarah Smith from the year 2011. In the cinemas of the film opened in the UK on November 11, 2011. In German cinemas, the film started on November 17, 2011. Voice actors of the characters include James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie and Bill Nighy.

Action

Arthur, the good-natured but clumsy younger son of Santa Claus loves everything that has to do with Christmas. So he is the only one in his family, in which the magic of Christmas still exerts its full effect. His older brother Steve on the other hand, the reins should take in hand one day, with a cool mind -calculate, astute businessman who has introduced high-tech efficiency and military precision at the North Pole. Santa finds himself although still as the head, but is not much more than a figurehead representative of the family business, because the whole operation it has long outgrown. His 136- year-old father, Grandpa Santa Claus, is a grumpy old codger who hates the modern world and constantly mumbles to himself that Christmas " was much nicer than I was Santa Claus ." This is not too good to talk to his grandson Steve, whom he mocked as " postman with spaceship ". Amidst this chaotic family it is soon to Arthur to prove himself as a hero on Christmas Eve, against all expectations, because a child in the world gets accidentally not a gift. For Steve this is just a small industrial accident. But Arthur makes together with Grandpa Santa and the elf Bryony in the old reindeer sleigh on the way to deliver this final gift in time. Here, Arthur experienced many adventures and depends on a lot of chaos. Nevertheless, he is determined to save Christmas before the morning comes.

Production

Aardman Animations produced this computer animated film in 3 -D for Sony Pictures Animation. Directed by Sarah Smith, who also wrote the screenplay with Peter Baynham. Producer was Steve Pegram and the music was composed by Harry Gregson- Williams. The artistic direction was Evgeni Tomov.

Synchronization

The German synchronization was created by a dialogue book by Hilke Flickenschildt under their dialogue director on behalf of the Interopa film in Berlin.

Publication

Premiere of the film was on November 11, 2011 in the UK and Ireland, the German theatrical release followed on November 17. The film was also shown in many other European countries, including in the United States, Japan, Australia, Argentina, India and some Arab countries.

Reviews
