Arthur Drews

Christian Heinrich Arthur Drews ( born 1 November 1865 in Uetersen (Holstein ); † July 19, 1935 in Achern ) was a German philosopher, writer, and important representative of German monism.

Life

After Bruno Bauer and next to Albert Kalthoff was Arthur Drews, a pupil of Eduard von Hartmann, the most famous German who doubt the existence of a historical Jesus. His work " The Christ- " (1909 ) gave rise to heated public debates.

Albert Schweitzer has devoted established by Drew's theses in his "History of the life of Jesus research " (1913 ) a chapter. Today, the " Christ- " in Germany - unlike the Anglo-Saxon countries where there is still a translation ( The Christ Myth ) is on the market - largely forgotten.

He died in the medical and nursing home Illenau at Achern and includes not only the theologian Karl Bernhard dogs Hagen (1810-1872), Princess Alexandra Amalie of Bavaria (1826-1875) and the Mayor of Heilbronn Paul Hegelmaier (1847-1912) to their famous patient.
