Arthur Emerson

Arthur Tenney Emerson was an American naval officer. In 1931 he was military governor of American Samoa.

Career

Arthur Emerson first attended Dartmouth College in Hanover (New Hampshire). In 1916 he graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis (Maryland). In the following years he served as an officer in the United States Navy. He also took part in the First World War. In 1921 he married his wife Gertrude Childs in Naples aboard the USS Utah.
