Arthur George Klein

Arthur George Klein ( born August 8, 1904 in New York City; † February 20, 1968 ) was an American lawyer and politician. He represented between 1941 and 1945 and 1946-1956 the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Arthur George Klein was born in the beginning of the 20th century in New York City and grew up there. During this time he attended public schools and the Washington Square College of New York University in New York City. In 1926 he graduated from the Faculty of Law at New York University. His admission to the bar he received in 1927 and then began to practice in New York City. Between 1935 and 1941 he sat in the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, DC and New York City. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

He was in a by-election on 29 July 1941 in the 14th legislative district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, there to fill the vacancy that was created by the death of Morris Michael Edelstein. After a successful re-election he resigned in 1942 to run again and was eliminated after 3 January 1945 from the Congress of. On 19 February 1946, he was elected in a by-election in the 19th Election District of New York in the 79th Congress, there to fill the vacancy of Samuel Dickstein, who resigned from his seat. He was elected to the 80th Congress and re-elected in the following four congresses. On December 31, 1956, he resigned from his seat.

He was elected a judge of the New York State Court - a position which he held from 1 January 1957 until his death. He died on February 20, 1968 in New York City and was then at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Fairview (New Jersey) buried.
