Arthur H. Taylor

Arthur Herbert Taylor ( * February 29, 1852 in Caledonia Springs, Ontario, Canada, † February 20, 1922 in Petersburg, Indiana ) was an American politician. Between 1893 and 1895 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1856, Arthur Taylor moved with his parents in the Yates County, New York, where he attended the public schools. He then worked for several years as a teacher. In 1869, he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. After studying law and its made ​​in 1873 admitted to the bar, he began practicing there in this profession. A year later he moved his residence and his law firm to Petersburg. Between 1880 and 1884 Taylor was a prosecutor in the Eleventh Judicial District of Indiana.

Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1892 he was the first electoral district of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William F. Parrett on March 4, 1893. Since he has not been confirmed in 1894, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1895.

After his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives Taylor practiced again as a lawyer in St. Petersburg, where he died on 20 February 1922.
