Arthur Hoffmann (politician)

Arthur Hoffmann ( born June 19, 1857 in St. Gallen, † July 23, 1927 ibid ), hometown entitled in St. Gallen, was a Swiss politician ( FDP).

He studied law in Geneva, Munich, Leipzig, Strasbourg and Zurich and graduated in 1880 with a doctorate. In the same year he became a lawyer in St. Gallen. He held the following political offices:

On 19 June 1917 he resigned due to the Grimm -Hoffmann Affair: In collaboration with Robert Grimm, he had tried to convey to the world of war eastern front a separate peace; although he always emphasized that this was done only in the interest of Switzerland, he was accused by the Western powers, he wanted to favor Germany by this so troops can deduct for strengthening the Western Front.
