Arthur Jonath

Arthur Jonath ( born September 9, 1909 in Bentrop, Unna district, † April 11, 1963 in Neu- Isenburg, Hesse ) was a German athlete who at the Olympic Games 1932 in Los Angeles, the bronze medal in the 100 -meter run (10, 4 s ) and the silver medal in the 4 x 100 - meter relay ( 40.9 s, together with Helmut grainy, Friedrich Hendrix, and Erich Borchmeyer ) won. He also took part in the 200 -meter run and was there fourth ( 21.6 s ). On June 5, 1932 in Bochum, he was also the first European to 10.3 s over 100 meters, which at that time meant a world record.

Arthur Jonath belonged to the TuS Bochum. At a size of 1.79 m, it had a competition weight of 73 kg.
