Arthur Lake (actor)

Arthur Lake ( born April 17, 1905 in Corbin, Kentucky; † January 9, 1987 in Indian Wells, California; actually Arthur Silver Lake ) was an American film actor.

Life

Lake Arthur was born in 1905 when Arthur Silver Lake in Kentucky. His father Arthur and uncle were acrobats in the circus and went as " The Flying Silver Lakes " in the United States on tour. When Lake was three years old, he joined henceforth with his parents and his sister Florence in vaudeville theaters in the south and southwestern United States. His mother Edith ( nee Goodwin ), an actress, him and Florence finally brought to Hollywood, where Lake in Jack and the Beanstalk (1917 ) received his first role in the film with twelve years. This was followed by roles in several silent films, which are often included Western.

Mid-1920s, he signed a contract with Universal Pictures, where you shortened his actual last name to Lake as the studio head Carl Laemmle was that Silver Lake sounded too Jewish. From 1942 until his death in Lake was married to Patricia Van Cleve, with whom he had two children, Marion (1944 ) and Arthur Jr. Patricia was time presented her life as a niece of actress Marion Davies.
