Arthur Lee (musician)

Arthur Lee ( born March 7, 1945 in Memphis, Tennessee; † August 3, 2006 ibid ), actually Arthur Lee Porter or Arthur Taylor Porter, American rock musician, was known as the frontman, songwriter and multi -instrumentalist of the psychedelic rock band Love.

Biography

At a young age Lee moved with his family to Los Angeles. He drew inspiration from music of different styles. He was often compared to Syd Barrett, who confessed his part that Love was a major influence on his band Pink Floyd.

1963 Lee made ​​with the band The LAG 's his first recording. The song My Diary, taken by Rosa Lee Brooks, with Jimi Hendrix as a guitar player, the first written by Lee hit. Other artists had with pieces from Lee's spring hits.

1965 Lee changed the name of his former group The Grass Roots in Love, because there was already another band with the same name. He died on August 3, 2006 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis leukemia.
