Arthur March

Arthur March ( born February 23, 1891 in Brixen, † April 17, 1957 in Bern ) was an Austrian physicist.

Arthur March studied mathematics and physics. In 1913 he received his doctorate with the work, the change of the resistance of an electrolyte in a magnetic field. Then he taught from 1914 to 1924 at a girls' high school in Innsbruck. After he completed his habilitation in 1917 and was Adjunct Professor, he became in 1926 associate professor at the University of Innsbruck. In July 1929 he married Hildegunde born March Mallet ( born 1900 ). From 1934 to 1936 he was a visiting professor at the University of Oxford. He then took over the chair of theoretical physics at the University of Innsbruck.

His research was quantum mechanics, the theory of X-ray spectra and thermodynamics.

March led a unit length as a constant of nature.
