Arthur Max

Arthur Max ( born May 1, 1946 in New York City, NY) is an American Designer.

Short Biography

After the school visit Max graduated from New York University, where in 1969 he earned a bachelor's degree in economics. In August 1969, he was part of the technical crew, who worked for the construction of the lighting system at the Woodstock Festival. Max began in the autumn of the same year as a lighting technician at the Fillmore East theater in New York to work on which he, until 1971, worked two years. He was also largely responsible for some music videos of the time for the light

However, Max joined the matter, and among other architecture in England and Italy. This study he completed in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in architecture at a Polytechnic in London.

His film career began in the mid -1980s as art director of assistive so about 1984 in the adventure film Greystoke - The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, which was his debut film at the same time. 1995 Max was discovered by David Fincher, who signed him as a production designer for his thriller Seven.

Since then, Max has invariably supervised films by Fincher or Ridley Scott, including Scott's two well -known films, Gladiator (2000) and Kingdom of Heaven ( 2005). Here, Max was previously nominated twice for an Academy Award in the category Best Art Direction, but went so far from empty.
