Arthur Piantadosi

Arthur Piantadosi (* August 4, 1916 in New York; † February 23, 1994 in Newport Beach ) was an American sound engineer. He won the 1976 Academy Award for Best Sound for his work on the film The Untouchables. He also received six other nominations in this category.

Life

For the first time seemed Piantadosi 1967 as a sound engineer in the film In Cold Blood, an adaptation of the novel In Cold Blood, with. Until 1986, he worked on more than 80 films.

Piantadosi received a total of seven Academy Award nominations in the category Best Sound. In 1977 he won the prize in this category with the film The Untouchables. In 1973 he also won the British Academy Film Award in the category Best Sound for the film Cabaret. Another nomination for the BAFTA Awards followed in 1977 for The Untouchables.

His last film was Rocket Man in 1986. 1994 he died at the age of 77 years.
