Arthur Robertson (athlete)

Archie Robertson (actually Arthur James Robertson, born April 19, 1879 in Harthill, South Yorkshire, † April 18, 1957 in Peterborough ) was a British long-distance runner.

In 1908 he won at the British Championships in cross-country running and when the nations Cross. At the Olympic Games in London, he won the silver medal in the steeplechase over 3200 meters and was fifth in the five-mile run. In the three-mile team run he reached the goal in second place and took with Joe Deakin and William Coales, who finished first and third place, the gold medal for the team of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.

Archie Robertson launched for Birchfield Harriers. Before and after his athletics career, he was, like his brother David, active as a cyclist.
