Arthur Seldon

Arthur Seldon (* May 29, 1916, † 11 October 2005) was a British economist and author.

Life

Arthur Seldon studied economics at the London School of Economics with Arnold Plant and Lionel Robbins and Friedrich August von Hayek.

Seldon 1957 Vice - Director of the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA ), a recognized market-oriented think tank. Today there are over 40 institutions in more than 20 countries, which are organized according to this model. Seldon was also the founder and editor of the magazine "Economic Affairs".

Seldon was one of the most renowned representatives of the liberal thinkers and had his visions significant impact on world politics, for example, since 1979 in the Thatcher era.

The Institute awards still an annual award named after Seldon, the " Arthur Seldon Award for Excellence " for outstanding economic publication.
