Arthur von Hippel (physician)

Arthur von Hippel ( born January 24, 1841 in Fischhausen at pillau, East Prussia, † 1916 in Göttingen ) was a German ophthalmologist.

Life

Arthur von Hippel was the son of Königsberg Judicial Council. He attended high school in Kneiphöfsche Königsberg and studied in Königsberg, Würzburg and Berlin. In the winter semester 1860/61 he was a member of the fraternity Germania Königsberg. After graduation, he went to training to Prague, Vienna ( in Ferdinand von Arlt ) and Paris. In 1868 the Habilitation, 1874, he was associate professor, full professor in 1879 in Giessen. In 1890 he followed a call to Königsberg position at the University Eye Clinic. This clinic was founded in 1873 by the ophthalmologist Julius Jacobson at the Albertus University of Königsberg was the first university eye clinic. 1892 moved to Halle Hippel, later to Göttingen.
