Artland Dragons

The Artland Dragons are a German basketball team from Quakenbruck in Samtgemeinde Artland.

History

Basketball has a long history in the city Quakenbruck. Having played at Artland Gymnasium in Quakenbruck basketball, a basketball department was established in 1955 when QTSV. In the 1970s, the first men's team reach the first sporting successes. On the one hand rose to the second basketball league and the other one fought to the knockout phase of the DBB Cup. Longtime major sponsor of the National Basketball League team Artland Dragons or the sport of basketball in Quakenbruck and one of the key initiators of the basketball enthusiasm in Quakenbruck is Günter Kollmann, former national basketball player (for the BBL Clubs ATV Dusseldorf and VfL Osnabrück) and entrepreneurs in the textile industry.

BBL Cup:

  • 2003/2004, the Dragons came up in the first round of the BBL Cup, where they were defeated by the polar bears Bremerhaven 91:84.

  • 2011/2012 they divorced after a 79:65 against Brose Baskets Bamberg in the qualifying round for the Top Four tournament.
  • 2012/2013 reached the Dragons the top -Four semi-final and were ranked number 4 after defeats against ratiopharm Ulm and FC Bayern Munich.

European Cup:

  • 2007/2008 reached the Artland Dragons as the only German team the knockout stages of the ULEB Cup.
  • 2008/2009 they came to the last 16 of the new Euro Cup.
  • 2009/2010 attracted the Dragons one to in the Round of 16 of the Euro Challenge.
  • 2010/2011, the Artland Dragons failed to qualify for the main round of the Euro Challenge, as they lost to return game against ETHA Encomi Nicosia.
  • 2011/2012 they came to the quarter-final playoffs of the Euro Challenge, retired from there but after two defeats against Beşiktaş Milangaz.
  • 2012/2013 came the Artland Dragons do not have the group stage of Euro Cups addition.
  • 2013/2014 eliminated the Artland Dragons as fifth in the group stage of Euro Cups from.

The youth department of the Artland Dragons are the Young Dragons, each with a NBBL and JBBL team. There is also a partnership with the local club TSV Quakenbruck.

Fans

The fanclub of the Artland Dragons is called " Dragon Fire" and the current venue is the Artland Arena with seating for 3,000.

Media

From the new regional Osnabrück newspaper the Dragons have received much attention, nationally However, this is only hesitantly since the play-off participation in the case in 2007.
