Arto Blomsten

Arto Blomsten ( born March 16, 1965 in Vaasa, Finland ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player who played in his playing days from 1983 to 2000 among others for the Winnipeg Jets and Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League.

Career

Arto Blomsten began his career as a hockey player with Djurgårdens IF, for the first team, he was from 1983 to 1993 in the Elitserien, the highest Swedish league, active. With Djurgården he won the Swedish championship in seasons 1988/89, 1989/90 and 1990/91. At the European level with his team in the years 1990 and 1991, he also won each of the Hockey European Cup. For the 1993/94 season, the defender joined the Winnipeg Jets, who had chosen him already in the NHL Entry Draft in 1986 in the twelfth round than a total of 239 players. The Jets, however, he could just as little in the National Hockey League prevail as then in their league rival Los Angeles Kings. Instead, he played from 1993 to 1996 mainly for their farm team Moncton Hawks and Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League and the Phoenix Roadrunners of the International Hockey League. Internationally

For Sweden Blomsten took part in the U20 World Youth Championship in 1985. In addition, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in 1992 and 1993. During the 1992 World Cup he won with his team the gold at the 1993 World Championships silver medal.
